Born in Los Angeles, California,
Star Washington was born to be a successful chef/caterer.
Starting at the age of
14 she was often left to cook at her household. Simply
because her mother stopped cooking and Star was in charge
of feeding not only herself but her brother and sister
as well. She frequently enjoyed cooking just for pleasure,
but she often found herself cooking for various occasions
and events. One memory that she remembers the most was
that one night in her new apartment she was cooking until
nearly three o'clock in the morning. She received a call
from the Assistant Manager who lived below and was told
to stop
banging those pots and pants. She immediately informed
her that she was not banging pans, but preparing a delightful
meal. She told the Assistant Manager to meet her on the
stairwell, as she was going to prepare her a plate as
well. At that
point
in
her life Star had not realized that this was her desire,
but as she matured she soon discovered that being a chef
was what she loved most.
With that in mind, Star enrolled into the California
School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, California. After
graduating,
she found herself working at several restaurants. However,
she was often tired of the repetitiveness of the job
everyday. There was no creativity or uniqueness to
the way the meals
were prepared. Star instantly found herself more interested
in catering because there was more freedom and opportunities
to meet new people. For instance, in the summer of 2006,
she was on call for the fires. This meant that whenever
a
fire broke out a team of chefs would go to the site
and cook
for the firemen. Star was the Executive Chef in charge.
After working for a variety of chefs and being able to
do any position that they asked, Star soon picked up
the role of catering and decided that it was time for
her
to venture out and start a business of her own.
Like
all businesses,
it takes awhile to get things started and situated.
However, with patience and perseverance, Star was determined
to
be successful. Through time things began to pick
up and now
she is often blessed with her many job opportunities.
These include private house parties, weddings, Bar
Mitvahs, anniversaries,
and business lunches.

Catering! It’s music to her ears!
